I taught in Relief Society today. The Bishop asked us to hit on spiritual/temporal preparedness as well as a generous fast offering. All in all it when well. It was a good topic for me to delve into more. I came across a few good quotes:

Pres. Gordon B. Hinckley:

None of us is wise enough to make it on our own. We need the help, the wisdom, the guidance of the Almighty in reaching those decisions that are so tremendously important in our lives. There is no substitute for prayer. There is no greater resource.

Pray for wisdom and understanding as you walk the difficult paths of your lives. If you are determined to do foolish and imprudent things, I think the Lord will not prevent you. But if you seek His wisdom and follow the counsel of the impressions that come to you, I am confident that you will be blessed.

I come to you with a plea that we stop seeking out the storms and enjoy more fully the sunlight. I am suggesting that as we go through life we try to "accentuate the positive." I am asking that we look a little deeper for good, that we still our voices of insult and sarcasm, that we more generously compliment virtue and effort.

I need to start writing my gratitude journal again. I am reading a book by Henry B. Eyring, To Draw Closer To God. I followed the advice found in this paragraph...

You could have an experience with the gift of the Holy Ghost today. You could begin a private prayer with thanks. You could start to count your blessings, and then pause for a moment. If you exercise faith, and with the gift of the Holy Ghost, you will find that memories of other blessings will flood into your mind. If you begin to express gratitude for each of them, your prayer may take a little longer than usual. Remembrance will come. And so will gratitude.

So...

Gratitude Journal:

1. Air conditioning
2. Freedom
3. Family
4. A new start every 24 hours
5. Ryan arrives in 13 hours!

Tomorrow is a new day! I am going to be better tomorrow than I was today. I will chase every negative thought out and replace it with something positive. I will be a better person, sister, mother and wife. I will have a date night with my very charming, sweet, good looking husband.
