Daily To Do Lists

Saturday I had a little meltdown.  Ryan had worked 15 shifts in 19 days.  2 of his days off were transition days... got off work at 7AM, slept all day, back to bed & to work the next morning at 8AM.  Basically he had 2 days off in 19 a Sunday & Wednesday.  Most of those shifts were nights so he was  sleeping during the day then a nap before heading back to work.  I remember why I hate night shifts so much!  Back to Saturday, Ryan was at a Boy Scout meeting from 8A-5p!  The kids were helping here & there.  The past month has been spent running every Saturday between soccer and cross country.  Our house has been a DISASTER!  After getting the closet & doors put in Casey's room we finally got everything cleaned up.  I had asked the kids to get their jobs done.  They started then got a little side tracked then fought a little then were sent to their rooms.  I laid down the law... no allowance or clothing money if jobs were not finished everyday & Saturday jobs were not completed before 8pm Saturday night! (they've missed out on the past 2 months of clothing money due to daily jobs left undone) I revised their lists, printed them and handed them out.  This week has been much better (at least the past 2 days!)  The dishwasher is broke and it's on my list of appointments to make along with Sam's eye appointment, dental appointments, orthodontist appointments, pool closing, etc.  It's ended up a good thing.

From Fall 2011

Sam, Casey & Rebekah clean up dinner and wash dishes together while I read to Porter & Victoria.  Isabelle gets her daily reading completed during this time.  Then it's a game with Rebekah & Isabelle.  Casey & Sam enjoy just hanging around chit chatting with Ryan & I.  It's nice to get back to a slower pace.  Everything runs smoother.  Dinner is so enjoyable.  I love sitting around the table laughing and talking together.  It's added a different dimension with Ryan's dad here.  It's fun to see the kids interact with him.  They love to sneak him extra treats.  I love to see that sparkle in his eye & bright smile.

If my kids gripe about having too many jobs--I'm telling them to look at this post! Although, they would love it if they had a "play with Misty" or "collect eggs" in theirs. Good luck :)
