It's interesting how what we think is best often turns out not to be so great and the things we get all bent out of shape about end up being just what we need.  Ryan's September schedule came out before we left on our trip the end of July.  Both of us where a bit bent out of shape.  Every shift, other than his mandated 3 overnights, were evening shifts.  4p -1a, 5p - 1a or 2p -11p SERIOUSLY!?!?  We kept telling each other it didn't matter, whatever, it'll be fine, etc.  Then the first week of school happened.  Luckily (blessing) he was off the first 2 days of school then worked the weekend and off an additional 4 days allowing him to be home the first 6 days of school.  We got up at 5AM.  Ryan was making sandwiches I was cooking breakfast and the mornings were better than fabulous.  I would say they were perfect.  For the first time my high (could they be impossible:) expectations of married life were met.  It's everything I had pictured in my head for a blissful family life.
Our mornings...
5AM Casey & Sam up (Mom cooking breakfast, Dad making sandwiches for lunches)
5:30  Casey & Sam family prayer & eat breakfast
The great thing during this time is there's very little stress.  We are talking, laughing everyone is enjoying the dreadfully early morning.
5:40  Casey & Sam to seminary (Mom cleans up Dad helps)
6:00 Rebekah & Izy up
6:30 Rebekah,  Izy, & Dad family prayer & eat breakfast
Again, this is such a great time.  We are talking, laughing, just enjoying the time together.
6:45 Rebekah, Izy & Dad head for the bus stop
7AM Porter & Tori up
7:30 Porter & Tori family prayer & eat breakfast
8:10 Mom drives Porter & Tori to school.

Now, back to the dreaded September schedule...  Ryan will be home every morning!  Our evenings are much more manageable now with the kids older.  Who would have thought an entire month of evening shifts would be an answer to prayer?  He has every cross country meet off as well as the weekends the team is traveling.  He won't miss a single event yet will still have every morning home with us.  Thankfully we have an empty house and he will climb back into bed as soon as the kids are off to school for a bit more sleep.  We'll see what October brings.
