Day 298

We had Trunk or Treat for the first time in seven years at our church building. Seven years ago our local church leaders decided not to celebrate Halloween at our church buildings. Some discouraged celebrating the holiday and were pretty opinionated about the whole thing. This was a time I allowed my religious authority to be placed outside myself. I think this will be one of the decisions I regret for quite a while and I don't think I'll ever make that mistake again. Our family LOVED Halloween. Each year we picked a family theme and all dressed up together. It was probably our most loved family tradition. It was bitter sweet sitting in the trunk of my car handing out candy tonight.
